Today, Thursday, July 21, Premios Juventud will be taking place in Puerto Rico for the first time. With the nominees for each category announced, Spotify is sharing their predictions for winners based on listening data.
Leading the pack with 11 nominations each are Karol G, who was Spotify’s most-streamed Latin female artist in 2021, and J Balvin, who was the seventh most-streamed artist that same year. Spotify’s most-streamed artist for the past two years, Bad Bunny, is nominated for 5 awards at this year’s Premios Juventud.
According to Spotify listening data, this year’s Male Artist – On the Rise would be between Jhay Cortez, Sech, and El Alfa.
If listeners are right, the Female Artist – On the Rise will be either Kali Uchis, Maria Becerra, and Mariah Angeliq.
To predict Album of the Year, we checked which of the nominated albums had the most streams and it looks like Rauw Alejandro’s “Vice Versa,” J Balvin’s “Jose”, or Karol G’s “Kg0516” will be the Album of the Year.
Spotify’s listening data indicates the Best Regional Mexican Song to be Grupo Firme’s “Ya Supérame (En Vivo)”, Calibre 50’s “A La Antigüita”, Yahritza Y Su Esencia’s “Soy El Unico.”
In 2021 Spotify’s global emerging artists program, RADAR, announced its partnership with Nathy Peluso alongside the release of her single, “Mafiosa.” This year, she is nominated for Female Artist – On The Rise. Also featured on the list of this year’s nominees are 2019 Viva Latino Artists to Watch Camilo, Sech, Rauw Alejandro, Cazzu, Guaynaa and Mariah Angeliq.
