Arc’teryx has launched the next evolution of its Beta AR jacket—now built with GORE-TEX PRO ePE, a new waterproof-breathable membrane that delivers elite protection with a significantly lower environmental impact.

GORE – PRO ePE is the latest milestone in Arc’teryx’s long-standing collaboration with GORE. The Beta AR remains a benchmark for all-condition performance—but now it’s built with a next-gen membrane that’s lighter, more durable, and more responsible.

This is the toughest, most durable jacket in the Beta family. This all-mountain hardshell gives pro-level protection on a windy, wet summit push. A mix of GORE-TEX PRO ePE fabrics adds durability in high-moisture areas to resist abrasion, while a lighter version on the body reduces weight and bulk.

The Beta AR ($650 USD) has been updated with enhanced fabric lamination, new cordlocks for increased durability, and pack-friendly pockets for easier access.
A lightweight RECCO reflector in the hood brim helps with searchability in emergency situations. Both the men’s and women’s styles now feature a helmet-compatible DropHood only. And new patterning minimizes fabric waste, saving material in the production process.

KEY FEATURES

  • Regular, articulated fit allows room for layers.
  • Glove-friendly cuff tabs keep sleeves secure and seal out weather.
  • Two zippered hand pockets are accessible, even with a pack on, and keep essentials secure.
  • Helmet-compatible DropHood construction adjusts to move with your head and provide coverage without impacting peripheral vision.
  • Lightweight, low-profile RECCO reflector in hood brim provides searchability in emergency situations.
  • Internal cordlocks in hood for adjustability.
  • Pit zippers for easy temperature regulation.
  • Adjustable hem draw cord to seal out drafts and adjust length.

In 2024 the lineup of bestselling shells with GORE-TEX ePE technology was updated, offering the most innovative waterproof protection yet. Free of intentionally added chemicals called PFAS, the ePE membrane (the thin layer that blocks water within a fabric) has a much lower environmental impact compared with membranes of the past.

Even better, GORE-TEX ePE is half  the thickness and thus lighter weigh – which means now you can do more with less.
