There are many reasons why a workout is near the bottom of the to- do list. It could be a lack of time, physically inactive on medical grounds, or a lack of interest in exercise in general.
This may seem an unusual concept, but some methods help you stay fit without partaking in a heavy workout. Exercise is important, but there are alternatives to be at your optimum levels.

Here Perfect Stride provides 5 ways to keep fit without doing a workout:

1. Eat a balanced diet – this is the foundation that all healthy lifestyles should follow. Eating from a balanced diet helps you think clearer, but improves mood, and increase the metabolism by burning more calories with periods of inactivity.

2. Hydrate properly – you need to hydrate to be able to function correctly, but it also helps with weight loss. Less snacking through a delayed appetite can help you get fit without the exercise, and can also give an outward appearance of being healthy too.

3. Ensure you have enough sleep – how much is enough sleep depends on the person. As a rule of thumb, your bed should be in a distraction-free environment. That means avoiding the temptation of checking your phone, or eating/drinking late as it will promote poor sleeping patterns.

4. Be opportunistic – a way to workout while doing the bare minimum is to sneak in little bits of movement throughout the day. This will help maintain mobility and joint health, for example, doing a squat to pick something up, pulling your knees to your chest whilst lying down and rotating your trunk while sitting at your workstation.

5. Manage your stress levels – a healthy physical state works in unison with a healthy mind. Make sure you are managing your stress levels through regular breaks, and meditation. Increased stress levels can undo all the hard work listed above.
