Celebrate National Hot Toddy Day With These Tasty Cocktails

On Friday, January 11th we’re celebrating National Hot Toddy day to continue to embrace the colder winter weather. There’s no better reason to cozy up with friends and family and pour yourself a glass of your favorite whiskey.

Whether you’re choosing to celebrate in the comfort of your home or heading out doors to enjoy a warm bonfire, Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek, and Laphroaig Scotch Whiskey all have their own twist on a Hot Toddy cocktail that will keep you spirited and warm on any chilly night.

Knob Creek Hot Toddy

INGREDIENTS:

1 ½ oz Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Orange Slice
Lemon wedge
3 – 5 whole cloves
Hot water
Dollop of honey

METHOD:

In a pre-warmed coffee mug, muddle cloves first then orange and lemon. Add Knob Creek and top with hot water. Add as much honey as you like.  Stir with a cinnamon stick.

Basil Hayden’s Dark Rye Toddy

Serves: 1 (when batching for a larger group, multiply parts by number of guests and combine in a large pot)

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 parts Basil Hayden’s Dark Rye
3/4 part Honey Simple Syrup*
1/4 part Lemon Juice
7 parts Hot Water
Cinnamon Stick
Star Anise
3 Allspice Berries
Candied ginger

METHOD:

Heat 7 parts of water over stove in a pot. Once water is hot, add remaining ingredients into pot and stir into flavors are absorbed. Strain mixture into a glass mug and garnish with candied ginger.

*To create Honey Simple Syrup, combine equal parts honey and equal parts water over heat until dissolved.

Laphroaig Feast Toddy

INGREDIENTS:

1 part Laphroaig 10-Year Old
½ part DeKuyper Mixologist Series Ginger
3 parts Hot Apple Cider

METHOD:

Build in a pre- heated coffee mug. Garnish with a lemon wedge  and a dash of fresh ground cinnamon.
