JUNGSIK

For anyone seeking a luxurious dining experience this holiday season, Jungsik the acclaimed Korean restaurant in New York City is the place to visit.

Jungsik is the La List-recognized, two-Michelin-starred from restaurant Chef/Owner Jung Sik Yim that laid the foundation for the wave of New Korean cuisine to take New York by storm when it opened in 2011. More than a decade into operation, Jungsik maintains its world-class service while the kitchen, now helmed by Executive Chef Daeik Kim, continues to reimagine Korean flavors with inventive plating.

From December 23 through New Year’s Eve, the restaurant will be treating diners to an exquisite eleven-course tasting menu served artistically plated and complete with options for standard and premium wine or champagne pairings that few restaurants could execute.

Highlights from the holiday tasting menu include but are not limited to:

  • Abalone Samgyetang, a soup consisting of pressure-cooked abalone served with black rice, rich-flavored neungyi, and samgye broth, finished with micro chives and Dae pa
  • Nurungji Urchin, rice cooked with squid and squid ink, pressed into a hot cast iron plate to crisp the rice, and topped with Hokkaido urchin
  • Galbi, Wagyu short rib marinated in a special galbi sauce consisting of soy sauce, Korean pear, pineapple, and aromatic vegetables for 4 days and gently cooked in soy sauce for three hours. The Galbi is then finished on a binchotan charcoal grill

The experience is priced at $450 but memories with family and friends that Jungsik’s holiday tasting menu will create are priceless.

HORTUS

This year Executive Chef Lenny Moon of Michelin-recognized Hortus NYC is excited to present a five-course special prix fixe menu that will be served on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, priced at $80 per person.
Highlights from the appetizing menu include:

  • Crispy Wontons, filled with truffle pulled duck and spicy mango
  • Truffle Chicken with filet mignon, sweet rice, and special sides.

As well as a la carte options:

  • Crispy Rice served Over quinoa, topped with spicy tuna and siracha truffles

King Crab Noodle, fettuccine in a cream sauce with mala, shallot, scallion

The Christmas special also includes a la carte options, and the classic Hortus Royal Platter, featuring chilled lobster tail, tuna tataki, and a shrimp cocktail. The reasonably priced menu includes an option for a wine pairing at an additional $40 per person.

Guests can enjoy dinner in Hortus NYC’s second floor dining room, which provides views of the historic Marble Collegiate Church across the street, or in the glass enclosed hidden garden, where one can dine under the stars.

Hortus NYC is a stylish Michelin-recognized Modern Asian restaurant from Managing Partner Suhum Jang with Executive Chef Lenny Moon helming the kitchen.

MIFUNE

For those looking for an intimate setting for friends and family to gather this Christmas Eve, where parties can share the dining experience and their thoughts on unique flavors and presentations of the dishes, MIFUNE is the perfect setting.

Executive Chef Tomohiro Urata (Tomo), has created a ten-course tasting menu that will unite guests in the holiday spirit.

Chef Tomo’s Christmas Eve feast will include but is not limited to:

  • Hokkaido Uni with cauliflower cream and dashi gelee served on the shell
  • Grilled Lobster in mussel coconut lemongrass foam
  • Angus Filet Mignon Foie Gras Rossini with black truffle perigueux sauce
  • and Chocolate and Caramel Cream Gateau Opera with espresso ice cream for dessert.

After a memorable meal, diners can take a short stroll to Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, and holiday destinations on Fifth Avenue to take in the sights and sounds of Christmas in New York.

The experience is priced at $200 per person, with an optional sake and wine pairing for an additional $70.

MIFUNE New York is set in an intimate, dimly lit space punctuated by natural wood accents, high ceilings with dramatic chandeliers, and three large shoji style panels that add to the ambiance and music that transports one out of the frenzy of Manhattan. The subtle yet sophisticated and avant-garde dining room perfectly complements the culinary techniques Chef Tomo perfected while working at some of the top restaurants in France.

OSTERIA ACCADEMIA

Osteria Accademia recently opened on the Upper West Side.
It’s a cozy restaurant with a homey decor where it is easy to lose track of time over fine food, good wine, and friendly conversation.  The restaurant is a perfect spot to grab dinner pre or post-Christmas Eve Carols & Candlelight services or a Midnight Mass.

Each dish on the menu represents a different region of Italy and is composed of fresh, house-made pasta and imported Italian ingredients. Pasta highlights include, Taglioni Neri, a thin, long, ribbon-shaped pasta made with squid ink served with shrimp and eggplant in a lobster reduction sauce; Ravioli stuffed with tender veal served in a sauce made of butter and sage dusted with Parmigiano. Main courses feature Orata, butterflied and encrusted with herbed breadcrumbs and grilled whole, served with broccoli rabe; Braised Short Ribs, short ribs braised in red wine for four hours served atop mashed potatoes made with demi-glace and pecorino; and a Lamb Burger, topped with goat cheese and caramelized onions. Desserts are made in-house and include Zeppole, bite sized balls of fried dough served with Nutella; Cannoli, two pieces of cannoli filled with sweet ricotta; and a rotating selection of house made gelato and sorbet.  You may view more delicious Italian specialties on their menu here.

The beverage program includes a selection of ten white wines, ten red wines, and three sparkling winesby the bottle and by the glass, all from the best wine producing regions in Italy, as well as a well curated list of Italian craft beers.

On Christmas EveOsteria Accademia will be open regular hours 5:00pm to 10:30pm.

SWEETBRIAR

Enjoy an exceptional Christmas dinner this year at the Michelin-recognized Sweetbriar, located in the Park South Hotel. Executive Chef Bryce Shuman, previously of three-Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park and his former restaurant Betony where he received a three-star review from The New York Times, will be offering guests a three-course Christmas dinner priced at $110 per person.
Sweetbriar will be open for dinner from 5:30 pm – 10:30 pm, with reservations available through Resy.

Chef Bryce’s Christmas prix-fixe menu will focus on his live fire cooking and the bounty of New York State’s seasonal produce which can be enjoyed in an atmosphere that is comfortable, yet festive and conducive to a casual fine dining experience.

Highlights from the three-course prix fixe menu include:

First Course (choice of):

  • Butternut Velouté
  • Radish Carpaccio

Second Course (choice of):

  • Applewood Smoked Honey Glazed Ham
  • Grilled Branzino, Charred Cabbage, and Tomatillo Relish (Supplemental $27)
  • Grilled Maitake, Black Beluga Lentils

Sides:

  • Black Truffle Potato Gratin
  • Parsnip Mash
  • Roasted Acorn Squash

Dessert:

  • Bouche de Noel (The Yule Log)

To pair with dinner, Sweetbriar’s Wine Program, which was created in collaboration Dylan York, a Principal of the Sommelier Society of America, boasts a robust selection of wines by the glass as well as a reserve list. The restaurant has also recently begun a Coravin Wine Program, serving wines from their reserve list at an approachable price per glass.
