Beyoncé, Adele and Drake, Lead 2016 MTV “Video Music Awards” Nominations

MTV just unveiled the nominees for the 2016 “MTV Video Music Awards.” The nominees were revealed via a Facebook Live broadcast from New York City, during which “Video of the Year” Nominees AdeleBeyoncé, Drake,  Justin Bieber and Kanye West were unveiled with a larger-than-life street mural. The 2016 “MTV Video Music Awards” will air LIVE from New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday, August 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.  Read below for the complete list of nominees.

Beyoncé leads the list with a career-best 11 nominations for videos from her album “Lemonade” while Adele’s record-breaking video “Hello” earns seven nominations.
“Hello,” Beyoncé’s “Formation,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Kanye West’s “Famous” all earned nominations for “Video of the Year.”

To echo a year in which the world’s biggest artists pushed music videos to new heights of artistry, MTV unveiled the “Video of the Year” nominees in a sweeping and panoramic mural created by world-renowned visual artists BD White, John Paul Ogrodnick (JPO), Damien Mitchell, Marc Evan, Resa, BKFoxx, Queen Andrea, Hektad, Giz, Such and Poem One at the First Street Green Art Park in New York’s East Village.  The reveal of the mural was broadcast during a Facebook Live event hosted by MTV News Correspondents Meredith Graves and Gaby Wilson via MTV and a coalition of more than 15 partners including press outlets and brands.

Fans can vote right now for their favorites in VMA categories including, “Video of The Year,” “Best Male Video,” “Best Female Video,” new category, “Breakthrough Long Form Video” and more by visiting vma.mtv.com.  Vote across all categories to enter to win the chance to go to the VMAs in NYC, thanks to Verizon, the presenter of this year’s award voting. Additionally, voting for the “Best New Artist” award, presented by Taco Bell®, will remain live through the 2016 “MTV Video Music Awards” Pre-Show airing at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and new this year, fans can cast their votes for the category via Facebook Messenger (starting 8/15).  The top two artists will be revealed during the pre-show, kicking off a live hashtag vote with the winner being announced during the live main telecast.  Nominees for the socially voted category, “Best Song of Summer,” will be announced at a later date.mtv-video-music-awards-logo-825x580
