Tangy lime and the sweetness of orange liqueur, paired with the distinctive strength of tequila, makes a classic margarita. The below recipes to Four Seasons’ favorite creations heat up the ice-cold drink with a bit of spice.

FOUR SEASONS RESORT HUALALAI: GREEN FLASH
With a blend of jalapeños and coconut cream, the Green Flash is a spicy yet refreshing cocktail that reflects Four Seasons Resort Hualalai‘s unique scenery and oceanfront locale: In the evening, as the sun hits the horizon, it creates a green flash of light.With fresh basil and a touch of heat from the jalapeños, you can enjoy a taste of the tropics whether sitting in the sand or reminiscing about a past beach vacation.

  • Ingredients:

○      5-7 Basil Leaves

○      1 oz Fresh Lime Juice

○      1/4 Slice of [Hawaiian] Jalapeño

○      1 oz Cream of Coconut

○      1.5 Patrón Silver Tequila

○      0.75 oz Grand Marnier

○      Lemon Twist

  • Directions:

○      Blend basil, jalapeño, lime, cream of coconut and water in a blender until smooth

○      In a shaker, add ice, Patrón, Grand Marnier and the blended mixture

○      Shake for 10 seconds

○      Strain over fresh ice into a tropical glass

○      Garner with fresh basil leaf, jalapeño slice, and lemon twist

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL DENVER: STRAWBERRY HABAÑERO MARGARITA
Strawberries traditionally pair well with spice, especially jalapeño. But mixologists at Four Seasons Hotel Denver selected the habañero pepper to kick it up a notch. The sweetness of the strawberries balances the heat of the pepper; add a healthy dose of Patrón Silver to deliver just the right flavor.

  • Ingredients:

○      1.5 oz Patrón Silver Tequila

○      1.5 oz Strawberry-Habañero Reduction

○      1/2 oz Fresh Lime or Orange  Juice

○      1/2 oz Fresh Lemon

  • Directions:

○      Strawberry-Habañero Reduction:

■      Reduce strawberry purée

■      Add sliced habañeros (with seeds), sugar, water and lime or orange juice

■      Continue to reduce to a syrup-consistency

○      Combine reduction and tequila in a shaker

○      Shake and strain over fresh ice into a rock glass w/ a salted rim

○      Garnish with a lime wheel

FOUR SEASONS RESORT LANGKAWI: ASSAM JAVA MARGARITA
Mixologists at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi combined traditional flavors of Asian cuisine in the sweet yet spicy Assam Java Margarita. Its distinguishing ingredient? Tamarind, which gives the cocktail a deep red color and a sweet but tart flavor. Add a little heat with chili powder and you’ve crafted a perfectly balanced cocktail, with the right level of spice in each sip.

  • Ingredients:

○      2 oz Tequila

○      1 oz Triple Sec

○      1/4 oz Southern Comfort

○      3/4 oz Sweet and Sour

○      2 tbsp Tamarind Paste

○      1.5 tsp Chili Powder

  • Directions:

○      Blend all ingredients together with ice

○      Serve in a margarita glass with a half salt/half chili powder rim

○      Garnish with a slice of lime dipped in chili powder

FOUR SEASONS RESORT BALI AND JIMBARAN BAY: CHILI MARYRITA
Sambal is a staple in Indonesian cuisine – the spicy chili sauce is typically served with every meal. Mixologists at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay wanted to create sambal-style heat in a drink while still keeping it light and refreshing. The result: The Chili Maryrita, a spicy cocktail balanced with vanilla syrup, passion fruit mix, rosemary and lemon juice – a taste of the tropics with every sip.

  • Ingredients:

○      2 tsp Vanilla Syrup

○      2 oz Jose Cuervo Tequila

○      4 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice

○      5 tsp Passion Fruit Mix

○      1 Togarashi (Japanese Dried Chili)

○      Lime wedge

○      Rosemary Spring

  • Directions:

○      Combine ingredients

○      Serve with a salt and sugar tim

○      Garnish with togarashi, lime wedge and rosemary spring

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL BAKU: SMOKED BLACKBERRY MARGARITA
For the Smoked Blackberry Margarita, the idea of heat is more literal: Mixologists at Four Seasons Hotel Baku smoke the cocktail over cherry wood after the ingredients are mixed together for an unexpected aroma and taste, with hints of sour, sage, sweetness and smoke. Paired with refreshing blackberries and citrus, it’s perfect for a hot summer day

  • Ingredients:

○      1 1/3 oz Tequila

○      1 1/3 oz Cointreau

○      1 tbsp Maple Syrup

○      4 tsp Lime Juice

○      6-8 Fresh Blackberries

○      7 Sage Leaves

  • Directions:

○      Muddle sage leaves and blackberries, then add rest of ingredients and shake with ice

○      Strain into an old-fashioned glass

○      Smoke cocktail with cherry wood

○      Serve on the rocks with garnish of blackberries and sage leaves
