Cocktail Recipes To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

With St. Patrick’s Day quickly approaching we bring you a few cocktail recipes from Jose Cuervo to make the holiday extra special.

Check below for the full recipes for each cocktail. Many of these recipes feature Jose Cuervo Tradicional Añejo, 100% agave tequila finished in single malt Irish whiskey barrels for a rich, complex, smooth tequila, adding a lucky charm to any St. Patty’s cocktail.

The Irish Aitall 
This cocktail is the perfect fusion of Irish and Mexican influences.

  • INGREDIENTS 

o   4 sprigs of thyme, leaves only

o   2 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional® Añejo Tequila

o   3 ⁄4 oz caraway-fennel simple syrup

o   Soda Water

o   Splash of fresh grapefruit juice

  • PREPARATION 

o   Muddle the thyme. Add the Cuervo Tradicional Añejo and simple syrup and fill shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a glass filled with ice. Top with soda water and squeeze of grapefruit juice. Garnish with thyme sprigs and dehydrated grapefruit.

Sage Lime Smash
Add a little green to your St. Patty’s Party with this sage and lime cocktail! 

  • INGREDIENTS 

o   2 parts Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado Tequila

o   1 tsp agave syrup

o   1/2 lime, quartered

o   3-4 sage leaves

o   Lime for garnish

  • PREPARATION 

o   In shaker, add cut lime, sage leaves, and agave syrup. Muddle ingredients then add Jose Cuervo Tradicional® Reposado and ice. Strain into glasses over ice, and garnish with lime wedge and sage leaf. Enjoy!

Queens Boulevard 
This combination of orange and cinnamon is sure to make anyone feel like royalty. 

  • INGREDIENTS 

o   2 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional Añejo Tequila

o   1 oz sweet red vermouth

o   1/2 oz Irish stout syrup

o   3 dashes Xocolatl mole bitters

o   1 piece dried spiced blood orange wheel

o   1 piece orange peel

  • For the Irish stout syrup:

o   1/2 cup Irish stout

o   1/2 cup brown sugar

o   1 cinnamon stick

o   For the dried spiced blood orange wheels:

o   1 blood orange

o   2 tablespoons sugar

o   1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

o   Pinch sea salt

  • PREPARATION 

o   Make the stout syrup: Combine all three ingredients and simmer over low heat until the sugar dissolves and most of the foam subsides.

o   Make the spiced orange wheels: Slice blood orange into thin wheels and lay on a parchment lined baking sheet. Combine the sugar, cinnamon and salt and sprinkle over the wheels. Bake at 200 degrees F for 2 1/2 hours.

o   Make the cocktails: Combine Jose Cuervo Tradicional Añejo, vermouth, syrup and bitters in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a blood orange wheel and a fresh orange twist.

Piña Old Fashioned
Shake up your classic Old Fashioned with a Tequila twist. 

  • INGREDIENTS 

o   2 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional Añejo Tequila

o   .25 oz Pineapple Rind Syrup*

o   2 dashes Bitters

o   Garnish: Orange twist or dehydrated orange wheel

  • PREPARATION – COCKTAIL 

o   Add all of the ingredients to a rocks glass filled with ice. Stir and garnish with an orange twist or dehydrated orange wheel.

  • PREPARATION – PINEAPPLE RIND SYRUP  

o   Be sure to wash pineapples before cutting and juicing. Save pineapple rinds and leftover pulp when juicing. Add Pineapple scraps to 2 cups of raw cane sugar. Muddle and let sit for 4-6 hours. When ready, add the sugar and pineapple scraps to a pot with 1.5 cup water. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer, stirring until sugar is fully dissolved. Strain, using cheesecloth if necessary. Optional, add 8 Black peppercorns to the sugar & scrap mixture. Strain at the end.

  • Yield: varies based on how much pulp & how much flesh is left on the rind. Roughly 1 qt.
  • SUSTAINABILITY OVERVIEW

o   Pineapple Rind Syrup makes use of the scraps of a pineapple that otherwise would have been thrown out.

Mint Pineapple Fresca
Refresh your St. Patrick’s Day with this fruity and minty fresca cocktail. 

  • INGREDIENTS 

o   2 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional® Tequila Reposado*

o   1 oz. Lime juice

o   3/4 oz. Agave nectar

o   Pineapple chunks

o   Mint

  • PREPARATION 

o   Muddle pineapple chunks and mint leaves. Add tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Stir until well mixed. Strain mixture into glass over ice. Garnish with mint sprig, pineapple slice, and frond.
