She may play an astronaut on TV but now she dresses like one in real life too. Hilary Swank, Oscar-winning actress and star of Netflix’s hit new space-themed show “Away,” was recently seen sporting unisex, rimless frames from premium eyewear brand Silhouette to celebrate Kate Rubins’ recent space launch.

For over 20 years, Silhouette’s glasses, specifically their TMA Collection, has been the go-to eyewear for astronauts, designated the official “Certified Space Technology” seal. The brand is mostly known as a luxury Austrian eyewear company specializing in super lightweight and comfortable eyeglasses and sunglasses for men and women.

All astronauts need a reliable pair of eyeglasses to ensure maximum comfort for their sometimes months-long missions. Silhouette’s TMA has accompanied astronauts on 37 space missions and counting because:

* Silhouette is renowned for their hinge-free, screw-free designs, which reduce potential danger for astronauts. Because astronauts work in sensitive, gravity-free environments, tiny screws or eyeglass components that loosen or fall off could lead to complications, particularly during Extravehicular Activity, when astronauts spacewalk with only the protection of their spacesuits.

* Astronauts can be on the job for up to 10 hours, all while wearing tight-fitting helmets and spacesuits that prevent the wearer from adjusting their glasses. TMA frames possess a super elasticity that ensures a lightweight, slip-free, comfortable fit, without irritating pressure points.

* The frames offer protection against the sun’s harmful infrared light exposure, which is over 30% stronger in space, providing contrast enhancement, better color perception, and comfort from the fatigue of scattered blue light.
