While some youth rec centers, sport programs, and playgrounds have started to open up, many kids across the country still don’t have access to these safe places to play due to the lasting impact of the pandemic. To alleviate the situation Kevin Durant and Degree Deodorant are teaming up to donate $1 million to 10 sports organizations across the country and keep 100,000 kids moving.

The COVID-19 crisis and recent George Floyd protests have shed a light on how inequality and systemic racism has affected local communities, and now more than ever sports organizations are in critical need to provide a safe space and use the power of sport to combat these issues.

The plan is to help these organizations continue to challenge kids to move and to provide mentorship, coaching and equal opportunity as they have always done, while keeping these organizations funded for the future.

Check out the campaign video on YouTube and on Durant’s Twitter to hear first hand on what this partnership means to him and the impact it will have on communities across the country.

Degree’s #KeepMoving Program
The Problem

With only 1 in 3 children physically active each day, American youth are moving less than ever before. Due to COVID-19 recent stay-at-home regulations, many kids don’t have the coaches and mentors from recreation centers and community organizations to keep them safe, connected and moving.

*Nearly 60% of local sports leaders say their organizations will lose at least 50% of their revenue over the next year.

*Communities hit hardest by COVID-19 are severely struggling to keep these facilities and programs running now, and will continue to face this challenge in the future.

*These organizations positively impact youth development, providing them with resources to move, learn and grow to reach their potential both on and off the field.

*Racial injustice further limits Black and Brown children who may not feel confident moving in their communities due to profiling stemming from systemic racism.

The Solution
Degree Deodorant believes that nothing should hold you back. Therefore the brand has teamed up with Kevin Durant and the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation to donate a $1 million to sports programs and rec centers in some of the hardest hit communities nationwide to help more than 100,000 kids #KeepMoving.

*This investment will enable their recreational centers and sports programs to continue providing movement motivation through direct mentorship and coaching now and will also help ensure their organizations can remain active and open in the future.

*Through the Laureus Sport for Good Response Fund, Degree and Kevin Durant will support the following 10 organizations who use movement and sport to improve the health, education and employment outcomes of kids in their communities.

      • Detroit: PeacePlayers
      • New York: Kids in the Game, New Heights Youth Inc., Row NY
      • Greater Washington D.C.: Seat Pleasant Activity Center
