lululemon continues innovating, and delivering fashionable clothing that perfectly adapts to rapidly changing work and play modes. The brand’s latest additions are the ABC Pant and The Fundamental Tee, two new wardrobe staples for fall.

With return-to-work plans continuing to shift amidst the ever-changing state of the pandemic (66% of companies are delaying office reopenings due to COVID variants*), and companies doubling down on hybrid plans, lululemon’s newest 11-market global study reveals some interesting attitudes on how the world views the culture of attire—especially with the future of the workplace.

The findings of this study reveal the significance of workwear comfort in this “next normal” and beyond and reinforce lululemon’s longstanding belief that when you feel your best, you perform your best—not only when you’re working out, but also in the workplace.

And male survey participants had some strong thoughts about the future of workplace attire, including:

  • 8 in 10 (81%) of global participants say they perform better at work when they are dressed comfortably; the majority of adults want employers to recognize that the quality of work employees deliver is more important than their clothing (86%).
  • In the US, this number is higher with over 9 in 10 Millennial men feel they perform better at work when they’re dressed comfortably (92%) and close to 9 in 10 would like their employer to loosen up dress code rules (87%).
  • More than one third of Millennials would consider leaving their job if their employer made them dress professionally again (38%).
  • In the US and Canada, this number is higher amongst Millennial men, with 56% and 51%, respectively.
  • Close to 9 in 10 (85%) Australian men who are returning to the professional environment will be looking for versatile clothing when they go shopping.
  • 2 in 3 (66%) Hongkongers believe the way they dress for work has an impact on their career progression (66%). This is particularly elevated among Gen Z men in Hong Kong S.A.R. (81%).
  • 4 in 5 Mainland Chinese men say they are not looking forward to dressing professionally again (78%) and 3 in 5 would consider leaving their job if they have to dress professionally again (59%).

The findings reaffirm lululemon’s beliefs that wearing clothes that make you feel good is now non-negotiable—especially evidenced by staple men’s products like:

  • ABC PantDesigned for on the move, as you begin to make the transition from home to office, gym, and a night out—ABC technology was built to construct just the right amount of room where it matters, without compromising the classic look.
  • The Fundamental Tee: This wardrobe staple blends cottony soft fabric with our abrasion-resistant and anti-stink technologies for a classic tee that’ll last. Try it once and we bet it you’ll wear it often.
