Macy’s Herald Square has unveiled its legendary Christmas windows signaling the start of the holiday season. Macy’s also introduced a new hero, Sunny the SnowpalThe magic began with a ceremony full of music, enchanting ice sculptures, and fun featuring elves from Macy’s Santaland.

As the snow fell, everyone counted down to the unveiling of Macy’s Herald Square’s legendary window displays. Award-winning designer and Macy’s National Director of Window Presentation, Roya Sullivan, created the 2018 intergalactic-themed Christmas windows. A custom interactive video game let guests zoom Sunny through snowflakes in pursuit of Santa’s sleigh, while LED backdrops and animated characters and scenery brought energy to the holiday scenes.

After the celebration, guests were invited into the store to enjoy sweet treats by Nonni’s biscotti and Carvel’s new apple pie flavored ice cream.

The theme of this year’s windows is “Believe In The Wonder Of Giving.” The six enchanted windows share a tale of friendship, family, adventure, and teamwork as Sunny the Snowpal works to save Christmas with the help of her friends. The windows are sure to delight generations of spectators who have grown up with the annual tradition of visiting the windows, as well as those experiencing the enchantment of a New York City Christmas for the first time. The windows will be displayed until January 1st, 2019.
