Mexican Beer Brands Corona, And Modelo, Introduce New Flavors For Summer

With the summer heat just weeks away, classic Mexican beers Modelo and Corona are both introducing new entries to their strong portfolio. Whether it’s exciting new flavors, or already prepared Micheladas, the renown brands are here to create a better tasting summer.

Modelo, the beer brewed for those with The Fighting Spirit, is introducing its newest ready-to-drink chelada, Modelo Chelada Limón y Sal. The latest addition to the Modelo Chelada lineup is a refreshing take on an authentic Mexican tradition. Simply made with Mexican beer and the refreshing natural flavor of lime and salt, Modelo Chelada Limón y Sal provides a new, convenient way to enjoy the classic chelada experience.

Modelo Chelada Limón y Sal joins a strong portfolio that includes classic Modelo Chelada Especial and sweet and spicy Modelo Chelada Tamarindo Picante. Modelo Chelada Limón y Sal offers a smooth and refreshing citrus flavor experience and has an ABV of 3.5%. It is now available in 24 oz. cans nationwide.

Fueled by Modelo, the chelada segment in the U.S. continues to grow. The segment is up 11% while Modelo Cheladas are up 51% in volume growth, and account for almost 90% of the segment growth. Beyond the chelada segment, this latest innovation will continue to drive Modelo’s overall brand growth, as it is the No. 1 growth family in the beer category.

On the other side, Corona – the maker of the No. 1 import beer brand family in the U.S. – is bringing its tropical and carefree attitude to a new category – Flavored Malt Beverages (FMB) – with the launch of Corona Refresca, a premium alcohol-spiked refresher. This is the first flavored malt beverage in the brand’s 37-year history, which will enable the brand to capture new, flavor-seeking consumers.

Corona Refresca has a refreshing taste and comes in three tropical flavors: Passionfruit Lime, Guava Lime and Coconut Lime. With an ABV of 4.5%, Corona Refresca offers a crisp and flavorful taste with 199 calories per 12-ounce serving. Guava Lime and Passionfruit Lime flavors will each be available in six-packs for an SRP of $9.99. A 12-pack that include all three tropical flavors – Guava Lime, Passionfruit Lime and Coconut Lime – will be available for an SRP of $16.99.
