The launch of HBO Max online streaming service has cause excitement among American viewers. Understandably so, given HBO’s emphasis on high-production value and creating captivating characters – with this being especially true for their comedy shows. 

Interested in HBO’s comedy programming, OnBuy Boxsets utilised Google Ads, to discover which HBO comedy show is the most popular in each US state. 

Additionally, OnBuy Boxsets also calculated how long it would take to binge watch the most popular HBO comedy shows. 

OnBuy Boxsets found that Curb Your Enthusiasm, starring the hugely talented Larry David, is the joint most popular HBO comedy show in America, topping the list in 15 states that include major powerhouses such as Florida, Illinois and New York.  

Run, thriving largely due to the excellent chemistry between lead actors Domhnall Gleeson and Merritt Wever, is also the most loved HBO comedy series in 15 states such as Arizona, Indiana, Kentuncky and Nebraska. 

The incredibly funny Silicon Valley is the winning HBO comedy show in eight states – one of which being the state where the actual Silicon Valley can be found, California. 

Interestingly, Insecure (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and Mississippi) and Family Tree (Idaho, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming) each take the crown of being the most popular HBO comedy program in four different states.

Niche picks can be found in certain US states. For instance, Enlightened is the favourite HBO comedy show in Hawaii. Whilst the same is true for Bill Hader’s Barry in Louisiana. 

Looking at the infographic, it does seem that those in the East Coast of America are big fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Run. The same can be said for Silicon Valley in the West Coast of America.
