SummerStage Anywhere Digital Series Returns with Grammy Winner Mala Rodriguez And Hip-Hop Pioneer ‘Crazy Legs’

Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage is continuing its free digital series SummerStage Anywhere this week with one-of-a-kind digital arts performances – live and pre-recorded – specific to genres that were born in or deeply represent New York (Hip-Hop, Latin, Global, Indie Rock, Jazz & Contemporary Dance).
Shows will be presented on SummerStage Instagram, SummerStage YouTube , Facebook page and Twitch channels unless otherwise noted.

SummerStage Anywhere digital schedule for this week, ending August 2:

● Tuesday, July 28th : Global Curators in Conversation ( SummerStage Instagram channel ) live at 5:00PM EST with SummerStage’s Associate Director of Programming Paula Abreu discussing curating live music on a global scale with Fabiana Batistela, the director of SIM São Paolo and Mercedes Caxaj, the Co-Artistic Director for SUNFEST.

Wednesday, July 29th : SummerStage Anywhere Session ( SummerStage Instagram, SummerStage YouTube , Facebook page and Twitch ) live at 6:00 PM EST for a performance by 20-year-old British singer-songwriter Fenne Lily.

Latin Grammy Award Winner Mala Rodriguez

● Thursday, July 30th : SummerStage Anywhere Session ( SummerStage Instagram ) at 5:00 PM EST with Grammy-award winning Latin Hip Hop star Mala Rodriguez live from Spain — the only woman to have ever won Best Urban Album and Best Urban Song at the Latin GRAMMYS. La Mega will kick off the show with a special DJ set at 4:30pm.

‘Crazy Legs’

Friday, July 31st : Culture Talk ( SummerStage Instagram ) live at 8:00 PM EST with Bronx-born, Puerto Rican dancer, educator and pioneer Richard “Crazy Legs” Colon, recognized and respected globally for his Hip Hop and humanitarian contributions in conversation with Bronx-born American rapper, songwriter, and DJ Grandmaster Caz.

Saturday, August 1st : Culture Talk ( SummerStage Instagram, SummerStage YouTube , Facebook page and Twitch ) with Executive Artistic
Director of SummerStage Erika Elliott and Charlie Parker Jazz Festival founder and producer Sam Turvey, moderated by jazz drummer and composer Jerome Jennings at 7:00PM EST. This event will kick off weekly celebrations of the 100th birthday of Charlie Parker with special commemorative Jazz performances throughout the month.

Sunday, August 2nd : SummerStage Anywhere Family Day, Presented by Disney ( SummerStage Instagram, SummerStage YouTube , Facebook page and Twitch ) starting at 1:00 PM EST Tune in for a special puppet variety show from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, followed by an Afrobeat dance class with Diddi Emah and performance by Black Violin.
