This Veteran’s Day take advantage of the holiday to make a difference. Below are three Veteran-founded companies that help support America’s heroes through different ways of giving back.

1. Veteran-founded USDA Wagyu Beef Company:

KC Cattle Company employs and mentors veterans and donates proceeds from sales to many veterans’ foundations. Their various cuts are delicious.  This season, they have a special holiday filet mignon and tenderloin package, among other great gift ideas. 10% of proceeds from sales will go towards sending veterans to the War Horses for Veterans program below.

After completing his military service founder Patrick Montgomery finished up his degree in food science at University of Missouri, bought a farm in Weston, Missouri, and started raising Wagyu cattle. He wanted to bring exceptional beef to the same people he had served as a member of the First Ranger Battalion. Today, his company employs only veterans and donates to a number of veterans foundations.

All their cows are raised in a stress-free environment, so the beef is more tender. No hormones or antibiotics and more omega 3 and omega 6 because of higher marbling and good fat. Good food for a great cause — it’s a win-win!

2.. NonProfit Organization, Combat Veteran-founded:

War Horses for Veterans, based in Stilwell, KS, is an all-paid three day equine bonding experience and networking program for combat veterans across the country. The veterans come to the War Horses for Veterans farm, meet up with old members of their battalion bond together and also, groom, train and ride the horses for a weekend. At the end of the three days, they network and are introduced to job opportunities to help them get settled back into civilian life. Right now, the foundation has helped to provide numerous jobs for the attending veterans.
The best part is that it’s completely paid for by the foundation. Another great thing about the program is that participants can return as mentors to battle buddies as many times as they want after attending the program.  Check the website to let this program thrive and help hundreds more veterans.

3. Veteran-founded CBD Extraction Company:

You’ve probably been hearing a lot these days about CBD, an ingredient that’s now in everything from bath and body products to candies to orally ingested tinctures and vape juices. Of course, there’s a lot of confusion about this industrial hemp-derived compound. What can it do? Does it make people high? Is it legal? Why use it?

Craig Henderson, founder of Boulder-based Extract Labs, is one of the country’s foremost experts on hemp, CO2 extraction and CBD. He is a combat veteran who served in Iraq.
After serving in the military, he earned his engineering degrees and became a sought after expert in the art of extraction. The road to founding his own company was a personally difficult one, but he recognized an opportunity and today, prides himself on running a company where every step of product production is kept in-house. This ensures a high level of quality and also reduces the price of Extract Labs’ proprietary line of CBD products.
