Tequila CAZADORES, an award-winning 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from Los Altos de Jalisco, will launch of a limited-edition bottle and traveling “Altar from Arandas,” both of which are designed by Mexican artist Victoria Villasana in honor of Dia de los Muertos.

“Día de los Muertos is an important Mexican holiday that provides a true lens into the colorful and passionate world of how Mexicans celebrate and honor those who have passed alongside their closest family and friends,” said Paul Mcdonnell, Brand Director, Tequila CAZADORES. “With roots in the highlands of Jalisco for nearly 100 years, Tequila CAZADORES is proud to call Mexico home, and through initiatives such as this one, seeks to share authentic Mexican culture and traditions with consumers in the U.S.

For the third consecutive year, Tequila CAZADORES has collaborated with a Mexican artist to design a limited-edition bottle inspired by the holiday. Committed to supporting and celebrating Mexican craft and heritage, the brand was drawn to Victoria Villasana, a Guadalajara-born artist known for her unique and colorful “yarn-bombing” style of portraits, street art, and installations.

The special-edition bottle depicts the prideful Cazadores stag alongside two traditional Día de los Muertos sugar skulls, and is a nod to Villasana’s Mexican heritage and also captures the aura of the Highlands of Jalisco.

“I was inspired by the Cazadores Stag and its meaning in indigenous cultures in Mexico. The stag is a messenger, a powerful animal that represents sensitivity and intuition. Just like Día de los Muertos, it represents a connection with our ancestors and the bridge between life and death,” said Villasana.

At the center point of Día de los Muertos is an Altar, or Ofrenda, where families gather around food and drinks, oftentimes Tequila, to raise a glass and celebrate the lives of the living and dead.

To bring the spirit and tradition of the holiday to consumers, Cazadores worked with Villasana to reimagine a camper as the “Altar of Arandas” – an authentic ofrenda (altar) celebrate the lives of the living and dead that will be traveling to bars across the country.

The educational and immersive experience will take guests through a journey where they’ll learn about the history of the holiday and participate in centuries-old traditions, as well as enjoy delicious Tequila Cazadores cocktails. Before entering the Altar from Arandas, guests will be encouraged to print a photograph of a lost loved one, which will be framed and designed in Villasana’s signature style. Following the experience, they’ll be welcomed to enjoy a complimentary Día de los Muertos cocktail and receive a prayer candle inspired by the bottle design.

The “Altar from Arandas” will start its journey in Austin, before traveling to Phoenix and ultimately ending in San Diego at one of the country’s largest Día de los Muertos festivals. The cities selected have rich communities of Mexican-Americans who will be celebrating the holiday this fall, making stops at the following locations:

Austin, Texas
Lustre Pearl Rainey

Gilbert, Arizona
Sandbar Mexican Grill

San Diego, California
The Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant, at the Old Town Dia de los Muertos Festival
