If you leave your heart in San Francisco, it may be because you stayed at San Francisco Marriott Marquis. Few hotels combine strategic location, charming decor, and outstanding service, and top it off with one of the most vibrant and seductive bar/lounges on the West Coast.   The hotel recently completed a massive multimillion-dollar renovation to retain its place at the top.

Location
The property is on the SOMA (South of Market) District, a two square mile section teeming with restaurants, nightclubs, and galleries. The beautiful Yerba Buena Gardens, the Moscone Center, the AT&T ballparkand more than a dozen museums are located here. Within walking distance is the marina, Union Station and Fisherman’s Wharf. In other words, most of what you want in San Francisco is steps away.

It is the large rooms, the unobstructed views, the choice restaurants and the added amenities that clearly make this hotel one of the best.

The View Lounge
A main highlight of San Francisco Marriott Marquis is The View Lounge, a rooftop restaurant that blends a modern setting with chic decor. As this is the second tallest hotel in San Francisco, and befitting the name, here are undoubtedly some of the best views of the city. An unobstructed panorama that takes you from majestic mountains, to sailboats on the bay, to a thriving downtown.

As you step off the elevator you will be overwhelmed by the vastness of the space, the stylish furnishings, the attractive crowd. But mostly you will be in awe of the floor to ceiling windows and their breathtaking scenes. And when one says floor to ceiling don’t think a single story, more like the equivalent of 2 or 3 stories tall.

Once inside and guided to your window side table you will sink into the comfortable sofas. Even if you’re not lucky enough to secure the prime window location, any area offers the unrivaled vista.

Upon my visit the selections included Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, Smoke Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio, and the Local Artisan Cheese Plate. Chosen cocktails were The View Old Fashioned, Skyline Punch, and to celebrate the hotel’s anniversary, The Marquis 25.

Since you’re at the center of it all, the restaurant options nearby are broad and varied.

Buffet
One of my favorite features of San Francisco Marriott Marquis is the regular buffet set up. For a nominal fee, every day you can enjoy a delicious buffet for breakfast and dinner. It has more options than you may expect and best value for the price.
