Attending the event was Brian Greene, professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University, recognized for a number of groundbreaking discoveries in his field of superstring theory. A noted author, he hosted two award-winning NOVA mini-series, and co-founded the World Science Festival in 2008 and serves as Chairman of the Board. Professor Greene kept the audience rapt with his perspective on “Time and Einstein.”

Also in  attendance was Oded Aharonson, Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, He also serves as an investigator in many NASA flight missions including the Mars Exploration Rovers and the Cassini Mission to Saturn. Professor Aaronson provided an illuminating up-to-the minute perspective on telling time in space.

Artist Michael Benson also premiered images from: Otherworlds: Visions of Our Solar System, an exhibit opening at the Natural History Museum, London in 2016.

In addition, Citizen Watch Company and the New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning honored physics student and Bergen County Technical School Senior Michelle Baird as a Science Star of the Future in recognition of her exceptional abilities and drive which serve as inspiration for her academic community.

Jeffrey Cohen, President of Citizen Watch Company of America said, “We could not be more pleased to introduce our important new advancements in Citizen Satellite Wave technology with this stellar team of leaders from the worlds of science, space and innovation. This event is an exciting acknowledgement of our brand’s extraordinary history in technological firsts.”

Citizen Watch has a comprehensive manufacturing process that extends from creating a watch’s individual components to its final assembly. The company operates in more than 100 countries around the world. Since its founding in 1918, Citizen has held the belief of “Better Starts Now” — that is, No matter who you are and what you do, it is always possible to make something better, and now is the time to start doing it. Sharing this belief, they have made watches, invented and improved technologies and created a path for the future of timekeeping with a propriety light-powered technology “Eco-Drive” and state-of-the-art satellite-synchronized timekeeping.

The goal of providing people with the correct time, regardless of where in the world they live and work, led to the development of Satellite Wave technology.

Citizen Introduces Satellite Wave Technology

In 2011, Citizen first invented a unique satellite timekeeping technology, “Satellite Wave,” which enables watches to receive time signals from GPS satellites and display precise time and date anywhere in the world.

With coverage ranging from 26 to 40 time zones, watches with Satellite Wave ensure the most accurate time found in any conventional watch. Whether trekking through the desert, cruising the oceans or climbing a snowy mountain, with Satellite Wave there’s never a need to worry about having the correct time.

Citizen-Wave-F900-Citizen Limited Edition Satellite Wave F900

A multi-functional GPS satellite-synchronized watch for 2015.  The driving concept behind the Satellite Wave F900 is “speed.”
It features the world’s fastest satellite signal reception speed —as quick as 3 seconds.
The high-speed twin-coil motor, newly designed for multi-functional watches, allows the hands to spin very fast both in normal and reverse rotations to quickly and smoothly correct the time between time zones.

Additionally, the watch case and band are made with Super Titanium applying the highest level of Citizen surface-hardening technology, Duratect, to solid titanium. It makes the watch resistant to daily scratches and preserves the look and finish to maintain its lasting beauty.
