To kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, we are sharing a snapshot of some exciting actors of proud Latin heritage that are bringing their talent to the big and small screens this fall and making us proud.

Let’s start with TV shows:

Aarón Díaz

Mexican actors Aarón Díaz (“Quantico”) and Ana Brenda (“Dynasty”) are toplining Pantaya’s upcoming TV crime drama “Toda La Sangre,” which debuts September 15.

“Toda La Sangre” follows Casasola (Díaz), a tabloid reporter who joins forces with police lieutenant Edith Mondragón (Contreras) and Elisa (Yoshira Escárrega), a local anthropologist, with the aim of deciphering a series of murders that have shocked the country. Together they travel through Mexico City chasing a ritual murderer whose peculiarity is to recreate ancient Aztec sacrifices. The series is based on the best-selling novels by Mexican author Bernardo Esquinca.

NBC’s next comedy series “Lopez vs Lopez,” about family dysfunction, reconnecting with a family member, and all the pain and joy in our families, features a mostly Latin cast including George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, Selenis Leyva, Matt Shively, and Brice Gonzalez.

“Lopez vs. Lopez” follows a working-class family comedy about dysfunction, reconnection and all the pain and joy in between.

Francia Raisa

Francia Raisa and Ashley Reyes in “How I Met Your Father” (Hulu)

Hulu’s newest comedy, “How I Met Your Father” stars not one but two Latin cast members–Francia Raisa and Ashley Reyes.

Francia, plays Valentina, an aspiring stylist and Sophie’s best friend on the show and Ashley plays Hannah, a resident surgeon living in Los Angeles in a long distance relationship.

“How I Met Your Father” follows a woman named Sophie and her close-knit group of friends who are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

Christan Serratos

Christan Serratos on “The Walking Dead” (AMC) 

From her first appearance on AMC’s hit show “The Walking Dead,” Christian Serratos’ beloved character Rosita Espinosa quickly became a fan favorite because she is a brave warrior, a mother, and slayer of Walkers. Her portrayal of Rosita was so well received that she was brought on as a series regular.

Serratos is also known for playing Suzie Crabgrass in the Nickelodeon series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Angela Weber in The Twilight Saga. Most recently, she portrayed Selena in Netflix’s “Selena: The Series.”

Latinos are also taking over the big screen with a few powerhouses starring in highly anticipated films. 

Javier Bardem

Javier Bardem in Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (Sony Pictures Studios)

Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem will star as Hector P. Valenti, the charismatic owner of a beloved crocodile named Lyle. Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action/CGI musical comedy that will arrive in theaters on October 7 from Sony Pictures.

When the Primm family (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle – a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), the Primms must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.

Christian Navarro

Christian Navarro in Prey for the Devil (Lionsgate)

He stole our hearts playing Tony Padilla in the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why” and now Christian Navarro will steal our hearts again, (and possibly give us a blessing) as Father Dante in Lionsgate’s upcoming horror film Prey for the Devil in theaters October 28.

Prey for the Devil follows an unlikely warrior: a young nun, Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers). Although nuns are forbidden to perform exorcisms, a professor (Colin Salmon) recognizes Sister Ann’s gifts and agrees to train her. Thrust onto the spiritual frontline with fellow student Father Dante (Christian Navarro), Sister Ann finds herself in a battle for the soul of a young girl (who Sister Ann believes is possessed by the same demon that tormented her own mother years ago), and soon realizes the Devil has her right where he wants her and it wants in.

Tenoch Huerta

Tenoch Huerta and Mabel Cadena in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Walt Disney Studios)

Coming to theaters on November 11, the highly-anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will feature acclaimed Latine actors  Tenoch Huerta, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livinalli, who join returning cast members Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, and Angela Bassett.

Tenoch Huerta, a Mexican actor of Aztec and Purépecha origin, will join the Black Panther sequel as Namor the Sub-Mariner, king of a hidden undersea nation, and Mexican actress, Mabel Cadena, brings Nomora, Namor’s cousin, to life on the big screen for the first time.
