MOTHER’S DAY: What Do Moms Really Want?

08 May 2014 by admin in Gift Guide

Based on a survey representative of 1,000 local moms and dads, MyTime.com — a convenient way to book local appointments — has found that both women and men have surprising opinions when it comes to  Mother’s Day  activities and gifts.

1.  MOMS WANT DIFFERENT GIFTS THAN THE ONES THEY GET

*  Even though 52% of men will give the moms in their lives flowers or cards for Mother’s Day, only 16% of moms actually want those gifts.

*  The top three gifts that moms prefer are something creative that involves family photos (23%), a gift certificate for a massage or facial (21%), or a gift certificate for a salon visit (17%).

2.  MOMS WOULD RATHER TAKE A BREAK

*  For Mother’s Day, 73% of moms expect to either be going out to eat or doing what they normally do on any otherday.

*  But the top four Mother’s Day activities that moms prefer are taking an out-of-town trip (23%), getting some pampering at a spa (20%), taking it easy while others do household chores (16%), or visiting a salon (13%).

3.  MEN ARE WILLING TO SPEND ON MOMS

*  This year, the most popular amount of money to spend on Mother’s Day is $21 to $50 (25%), followed by $51 to $100 (24%) and $11 to $20 (19%).  Only 7% of guys say they will spend less than $10.

4.  MEN ARE DOING LAST-MINUTE MOTHER’S DAY PLANNING

*  42% of men will make plans either a few days before Mother’s Day or will wait until the day itself.  6% of men admit that in the past they have forgotten Mother’s Day altogether.
