This Independence Day is poised to be different than usual but you can still make sparks fly with refreshing summer sips. Lucien bartender and Don Papa Rum Brand Ambassador Peter Ruppert, has crafted three cocktails perfect for sipping while soaking up the sun.

The Apple Pina, Macaroni Feather, and French Revolution all highlight fresh flavors including pineapple, apple, apricot, and basil — the perfect complement to Don Papa’s signature sweet style.

Don Papa Rum is available for delivery via Drizly, Caskers, Warehouse Wines, and other local retailers.

APPLE PINA

2 oz Don Papa Rum

1 oz apple cider

1/2 oz pineapple juice

1/2 oz lime

1 bar spoon grenadine for color

This can be served shaken or stirred and preferably over crushed ice.

MACARONI FEATHER

1 1/2 oz Don Papa Rum

3/4 oz apricot nectar

1/2 oz lemon juice

1/4 blue caracao

1 bar spoon cherry heering

Garnish w cherry

This is another fruit bomb but is intended to be layered. The rum, apricot, and lemon should all be mixed first. The caracao should be poured on the bottom, then add ice, then add rum mixture, then dress with cherry Heering. Red white and blue!

FRENCH REVOLUTION

1 oz Don Papa Rum

1 oz cognac

3 dashes walnut bitters

3 leaves basil

Served up or on one large piece of ice.

Be sure to first bruise the basil and rip on the inside of the glass the cocktail is served in. Mix all ingredients and stir cold. Float one pedal of basil on cocktail.
