Tequila Don Julio recently celebrated the new For Those Who Know campaign in New York City. For the occasion, Mexican artist Claudio Limon took inspiration from the new vibrant campaign to paint Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos restaurant’s walls, bringing the colors of Mexico to Brooklyn.

The For Those Who Know campaign merges the rich history behind the Tequila Don Julio brand with the creative artistry of Mexico’s most talented to celebrate the legacy of authentic Mexican family establishments that embody the spirit of being a community meeting point for those who know.

The history of Los Hermanos in Bushwick, is a genuine story that should be told and celebrated for years to come. From humble beginnings, the owner started a small tortilla business nearly two decades ago that grew into a restaurant that has become a mainstay in the neighborhood, and with a daily crowd lining up for orders, the restaurant shows no sign of slowing down.

Shanina Shaik

To celebrate the brand new mural at the tortilleria, Tequila Don Julio Master Distiller Enrique de Colsa hosted a dinner, unveiling the mural to guests for the first time. Joining the celebration was special guest and international model Shanina Shaik.

Curated by The Infatuation, the event’s menu featured the restaurant’s most emblematic dishes paired with signature cocktails designed by international Mixologist Mica Rousseau, including the unique Don Julio Blanco and cooked pineapple-based Margarita Al Pastor.

Claudio Limon

International artist Claudio Limon created a special installation depicting the story of Taqueria Viva Mexico. A native from the state of Jalisco in a town just outside of the Tequila Don Julio distillery, Limon began his studies in painting at age 10 before taking on a career of design. Inspired by the richness of Mexican popular culture, he believes colors are a fundamental part of inspiration.

Margarita Al Pastor Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz Tequila Don Julio Blanco

2/3 oz Orange Liqueur

2/3 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

2 oz Cooked Pineapple Juice

5 sprigs Cilantro

Hibiscus Salt*

Preparation:

1 Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and cooked pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.

2 Strain contents into a double old-fashioned glass with hibiscus salt rim over fresh ice.

3 Garnish with cilantro.

*Hibiscus Salt: 2 parts dried Hibiscus flowers, 1 part fine salt, 1 part white sugar, 1/2 part confectioner’s sugar

Garnish: Hibiscus salt rim, cilantro

Glassware: double old-fashioned
